Keep Your Puppy Safe And Contained In A Dog PlayPen
When John brought home Pearl, the pug addition to our household, I was at a loss as to how to keep her contained yet give her enough room to play. Enter the dog playpen that we found!
As anyone who has a puppy knows, they can get into everything, everywhere! Keeping a new pup safe is the name of the game and that’s why our playpen is a permanent (for now) addition to our home.
Our playpen is similar to the one you see there above. We like this particular model of playpen as it’s easily portable (it folds down) and is easy to make larger or smaller, depending on the space available.
After breakfast, I usually plop Pearl right inside her contained area and she almost always falls fast asleep. If I put her in the crate, she might complain a bit, but I never hear even a whimper when she’s in her playpen.
And, although this particular playpen is meant for children, we have no problem using it for, periodically, multiple dogs.
Soft Dog Playpens
Dog exercise pens come in a variety of materials. The soft material is fine for small pups or non-chewing dogs but, if you’ve got a more active being on your hands, they might chew right through.

Hard Sided Pet Playpens
For a more permanent addition to the home, I prefer a hard sided exercise pen. Made of a very hard plastic, these exercise pens do tend to take up more space than the soft sided models so, if space if an issue, you might want to select a different type.
