Get The Scoop On Pooper Scoopers (see what I did there?)
There’s no denying that I love my dogs but I don’t love picking up their poop. However, as a responsible dog owner (like you….), I know that it’s my job to clean up after Dash, Goldie, Rita, and Matee.
In order to make the task as pleasant as possible, I’ve researched the best way to keep my hands clean and my pride intact – one of the worst feelings ever is putting a poop bag on your hand, reaching to cover a steaming pile of turds only to realize there’s a hole. And, that hole is right where your fingernail is….ew….
That’s the reason I make sure to carry along hand sanitizer, just in case.
Types Of Pooper Scoopers
Pooper scoopers come in a few different flavors (couldn’t resist). My favorite used to be the scoops where I could scoop a whole pile of poop at once. Beware if buying this for someone with arthritis though as my now arthritic hands can no longer operate this type of pooper scooper; I just don’t have the strength.
I’ve moved over to a two-handed version which works great. And, for larger dogs than 50 lb Dash, the two-handed model might be what you need instead.
In short, there’s a scooper for every size of poop imaginable including that one there above on the left, the Doody Digger Pooper Scooper. To use this scooping beauty, you just scoop the poop into the curved end, raise it up and the doody falls right in the bag at the bottom of the tube. I use this with my smaller dogs but I’m sure it would work for any size dog as the scooper opening is quite large.
First Things First – Arm Yourself With Some Poop Bags
Pooper scoopers are fine for when we are at home or close to home, but, for longer walks I need poop bags – and lots of them! As a tip: tie a few poop bags to the leash handle. That way, you’ll always be loaded for bear….

Two-Handed Pooper Scoopers
