Keep Your Pets Pest Free With Flea And Tick Prevention
Anyone who has owned a dog has probably experienced at least one flea and tick outbreak – and they never want to experience it again!
Once fleas move into your home, it’s very difficult trying to evict them! One problem is that the eggs of the flea can survive for months until advantageous weather occurs.
There are quite a lot of flea and tick preparations on the market so it may be difficult, particularly for new pet owners, to sort through them and find the best way to avoid fleas and ticks.

Frontline And Other Topical Flea And Tick Preventions
I had used Frontline since it first came on the market years ago. There is a lot of chatter recently about whether Frontline is still effective. I can’t comment on that as we’ve moved to Seresto. But, when we DID use Frontline….
Since we had 4 dogs, we found a way to dose them all for much less than you might think. Instead of buying individual Frontline packets for them, I buy the largest Frontline (for dogs 89-132 lbs) and split up the dose. The Frontline site shows that a dose of .68 ml is perfect for my little dogs (none of which weigh more than 14 lbs). Dash gets the largest dose of 1.68 ml.
And, how do I dose them? Well, I snip off the top of the Frontline vial and use a syringe to measure the correct dose. I then just apply the syringe to the shoulder blades and, voila! No fleas or ticks for a month. And, it’s much more economic this way.

Flea And Tick Powders
Flea and tick powders may seem like an old type flea and tick preparation, but, a good flea and tick powder is a necessary purchase if your home has a flea infestation.
There are two types of flea and tick powders – One type is to be applied right to your dog or cat. The other type gets applied directly to the rug or bedding that the pet visits.
Either of these types of flea treatments works well but I’m a fan of applying the powder right to the animal. In this fashion, your pet will carry the powder to those of his favorite spots. As he walks or lies down, the power settles into the rug or bedding and can help with the resurgence of fleas.
