Let Sleeping Dogs Lie – On Comfortable Dog Beds!
When it comes to sleeping, Dash the Basset is a champion contender. And, Dash is never happier than when he’s curling up on his very favorite dog beds, of which there are many.
As I type this post, in sight are five dog beds – and, that’s only in the living room. With four of my own dogs and one doggy visitor added into the mix, dog beds are at a premium here. Even the cat has his own ‘dog bed.’
Dash’s favorite dog bed is a rather large bed that used to house my Aussie, Killian, who died in July 2015. I’m not sure if it’s Killian’s scent that Dash is attracted to or the large bolster pillows on both sides of the bed. I frequently find him curled up with his head on the pillow.
MY favorite dog beds are any of the collection which are washable. I find myself freshening up the dog beds quite frequently as they tend to get very hairy, muddy, and, well, let’s say it – a bit ‘smelly.’ A quick wash and a thorough drying in the sun usually keeps the dog beds going for another few months. Suffice it to say that I was a lot of dog beds!

Othopedic Dog Beds

Well, classified under the ‘what will they think of next’ category are these pet beds that are actually furniture. I’ll admit to having one of these myself. It has an othopedic mattress on it and is well loved by all the dogs.

Tim likes to have multiple beds located in his various favorite places around the house. Hank won’t go near a dog bed, perhaps because of some traumatic event in his life before he came to live with us. Of course, Hank has no problem taking a snooze on people beds!
Vicki, it’s rare that we can get in bed at night without having to move one (or three) little ones off our pillows….We wouldn’t have it any other way.

I once had a foster dog who wouldn’t look at a dog bed either but, like your Hank the Border Collie, this dog was all over a people bed. At first, I wasn’t sure he’d ever seen one.
Wow! Five dogs? Must be a squirming, barking, cuddling good time! My dog never had anything fancy, but she did love having a pillow for her head, so the bolster ones were a good fit for her. Otherwise, any cushiony surface would do.
For awhile, we had SIX dogs! Barley, Hopps and Killian have all passed now. They’re well missed but the current five are well loved. Five is ENOUGH though – at least, that’s what John just told me. Thanks for your comment!
