Pet steps – give your dog a Christmas gift of a basic creature comfort
We now have four dogs who are under 12″ tall. I’ve seen all four bounce off the side of the bed (even with a running start) when trying to jump up into bed or a favorite chair. Now, as bad as I felt to laugh at their ascent attempts, I felt sorry for the poor fellas. When I found pet steps at my local pet store, I knew I was saving myself a large vet bill in the future.
Pet steps (aka doggie stairs) can be placed near any piece of furniture to which you want to give Fido easy access. Dog stairs come in different qualities and are made of different materials so be careful when selecting this item.
I initially bought a plastic set of doggie stairs, but it was too flimsy for our 14 lb Pug so I invested in a more sturdy set. I’m glad I bought the Pet Studio Dog Ramp/Steps that you see there to the left. These particular wooden dog steps easily turn from steps into a ramp which is easier for Dash the Basset to maneuver as he’s very l-o-n-g.
Wooden Pet Steps Are The Sturdiest Choice For Dog Steps
Instead of the much flimsier plastic steps, invest in a set of solid wood dog steps for larger, heavier dogs. My basset won’t touch the plastic pet steps I have in the guest bedroom which is fine by me – that bed is for ‘guest’ dogs!

Convertible Dog Steps Turn Into A Ramp!
One of my favorite dogs, Killian, my Aussie, slipped his disc at the age of 12. A slipped disc meant that there would be no steps, no jumping. Plastic Pet Steps For Smaller Dogs
Our three dogs under 14 lbs used the plastic steps with no problem but Dash wouldn’t touch them. So, these inexpensive pet steps are fine for smaller pets.
