A Stuffed Basset Hound Toy Is A Much Better Gift Than A Live Dog At Christmas, For Many Reasons
Those of us who have ever worked with animal rescues will tell you that Christmas is the absolute worst time to give a dog to anyone!
For one thing, when a dog first comes into a home, they need time to adjust to normal comings and goings. This is impossible to do at Xmas when families come to visit and disrupt normal routine.
Dogs can get confused in a new environment, they can become anxious, and uncentered. Some people might not even notice their dog crouching in the corner but I would.
Instead, if a family is truly ready to, hopefully, adopt a basset hound, a gift of a stuffed dog is a perfect stand in until January when the holiday season is over. This allows time to help the new dog settle into the routine expected of him or her.
Stuffed animal basset hounds are also great gifts for a dog lover who may have allergies. Or, how about for a dementia patient who is missing their old companions?
