USA Made Dog Treats Are The Only Ones Dash the Basset Eats.

In 2007, thousands of US dogs were killed when they ate dog food and treats imported from China. Additionally, dog deaths were investigated for seven years (!) only to discover the deaths were attributed to China made jerky treats. A huge pet food recall ensued but not soon enough. The damage had been done to thousands of beloved dogs.

I don’t know about you, but none of my dogs eat anything but USA made dog treats.

It’s particularly frustrating to walk into a store (like Walmart) and search and search for USA made dog treats. Almost everything they carry is manufactured in China, Thailand, or South America. Upon reading the fine print, even a few of the dog treats packaged with the ‘Made in the USA’ sticker have ingredients sourced in other countries. It can take me up to 30 minutes to find enough dog treats and dog chews to satisfy my pack.

So, once again, I took to the internet to find my own USA made dog treats. I searched through thousands of products and read the fine print, including the customer reviews. It literally took hours! Made in the USA Liver Treats

When training a puppy, I want a treat that Dash the Basset just can’t resist (in the dog training world, these are referred to as ‘high valued treats’). Any of these liver treats work magically to focus my pup’s attention right on me. These are pretty special treats and pretty expensive ones too, so Dash only gets them during training sessions – of which there appear to be many….

Additionally, it’s been rumored that giving a dog liver treats helps with the tear staining we see in light colored dogs, such as Maltese. Buyer beware if that is the reason for buying these fairly expensive liver dog treats!

USA Made Rawhide Bones

Since Dash is a young basset, I have been giving him USA made rawhide bones to help with his need to chew. It takes him a few days to get through one bone, but, that’s fine by me as it saves my dining room chair legs (well, sorta. I’ve chosen to find the teeth marks in one ‘charming’…).
